“Since our programmers are often on the road, we found the perfect solution in Secomea, which enables us to access our plants from anywhere. For example, a programmer solved a problem at one of our plants in Sweden while waiting for his flight to Moscow. We generally have up to 75% fewer service calls thanks to the remote maintenance possibilities”.
The challenge
Extended trips for programmers around the globe and the need to access decentralized peripheries
Weil Technology’s programmers needed to travel frequently to service and maintain highly automated machines and plants for customers worldwide. Such recurring trips meant that their technicians spent a lot of time on long journeys instead of making better use of their expertise.
The company needed a way to remotely access all its plants globally. This remote enablement would let them assess issues remotely and troubleshoot machines without going on-site in person.
When looking through the solutions available in the market, access to distributed peripherals and global availability were critical criteria for the decision: “And in the process, we found a perfect solution in Secomea!” reported Patrick Senger, Weil Technology’s Head of Electrical Construction.
The solution
A secure remote access solution easy to implement and use, enabling outbound connection
Weil Technology chose Secomea because we offer a standardized remote access and maintenance solution that can be configured quickly and easily while keeping security as the top priority.
They now use Secomea to access a wide range of industrial systems: Siemens components, such as the Simatic CPU 300 & 1500 series, Sinumerik 840d sl, visualizations OP, and the new Comfort series; but also other components, such as the PNOZmulti security control unit of the company Pilz, IP cameras, and decentralized peripheries such as lasers, robots, QA monitoring systems, and integrated external systems.
“A big advantage and corresponding argument in favor of choosing the Secomea solution is the outbound connection established by the Secomea gateway from the machine network to the external Secomea M2M server. This way, the customer networks – as well as our machines – are protected against access by third parties. Furthermore, the customer has the option to deactivate the Secomea gateway to prevent remote access, should they wish to do so”, which customers particularly appreciate, according to Senger.
The result
1st class customer service and 75% fewer support calls thanks to the remote maintenance possibilities
With the Secomea remote access solution, Weil Technology can now guarantee an excellent hotline service for its customers. Program updates and process support tasks are also completed remotely.
“Since our programmers are often on the road, we found the perfect solution in Secomea, which enables us to access our plants from anywhere. For example, a programmer solved a problem at one of our plants in Sweden while waiting for his flight to Moscow. We generally have up to 75% fewer service calls thanks to the remote maintenance possibilities, and Secomea makes a very big contribution to this”, concluded Senger, Head of Electrical Construction at Weil Technology.
